A lice married Leonard Chadwick a Boiler Foreman for Hepworths of Meadow Lane, in 1911 and they had four children – Leonard (1913), Elsie (1915), Lilian (1918), Eric (1920) and Herbert (1921).

In the 1911 census Alice is listed as 24, single and working as a Tailor’s Finisher.

In 1921 both her father James aged 66 at the time (separated from his second wife, Isabella) and her brother Herbert aged 40 at the time (demobbed from the army) were living with the Chadwick’s. James is listed as having no occupation whilst Herbert is working as a Porter in the General Infirmary in Great George Street, Leeds.

In 1939 Leonard Chadwick of 84 Farm Hill, Leeds is working as a Textile Willeyer, Alice is still listed as a housekeeper but also as a “First Aid Nurse in ARP” ARP stood for Air Raid Precautions and included Wardens and Nurses.

Elsie (Jones) is working as an Engineering Driller (Government Work, Heavy Worker), Lilian (Iredale) is Working in Engineering Guaging (Government Work) and is also a First Aid Nurse in ARP. Eric Chadwick is also working as an Engineering Driller (Government Work, Heavy Worker) and Herbert Chadwick, 17 years old at the time, is working as a Bottler in a Brewery.
